mini 2 inch by 3 inch art on a canvas with music paper as the background and a paper cut out of a raven and a skull with a button and a plastic leaf with a quote about rebirth

Welcome to my virtual mixed media art studio. My name is Dionne, artist and junk journal creator near Tacoma, Washington.

Here are a few of the pieces I’m proud to share with you today:

crow by dionnes creative odyssey craft supply store

This is my very first painting of a crow I ever did. The original was painted on a page from Grimm’s Fairy Tales glued to a page in a sketch book. I didn’t like the watercolor papers I had at the time.

I love the storybook vibes of this painting.

My goal was to get the form of the crow down on paper and imply the wings and body with the different shades of black paint. And the moon too of course. I love painting the moon.

So far this is my favorite junk journal I’ve made. It was my first soft cover journal I created with my favorite colors to create with: purple, green, and black.

This journal is at its new home now but I wish I could show you the little tuck spots, pockets, flip-out parts of the pages I made over time.

This was an adventure in trusting my creativity to complete a project that I was very proud to show everyone during a live stream and then send to its new steward.

mixed media art piece with a. wood base with paste and painted to be inspired by bark, with a raven, a branch, and the word Nevermore

I wanted to make something so different from my normal that it could be anything as long as it was new to me.

The base was a wooden “stadium” piece from a craft store. And I just had to add some moss along with a little branch I’d found on a walk.

This piece reminds me to challenge myself with compassion.

If you like my work and the vibe here, I’d love it if you signed up for updates on my projects and scheduled events a little further down this page. There’s also more about me on the “about” page. But first, here are a few other creations I loved making that I want to show you.

Tags on a ring: each had different words. I used paper, fabric, cardboard, inks, stamps, sharpie, buttons, feathers, and stickers (the letters are stickers) and just went bonkers following my heart to the finish line
Notebook: I wanted to use up some paper and a mailing envelope from a package I received so I took a favorite paper for the cover and used a piece of painted paper for the spine
three soft cover curated junk journals on a window sill, front journal features an owl face
Owl junk journals: I made three in a collection with a fall theme. I have loved owls since I can't even remember how long so I loved designing the cover of these and this one is my favorite
